Good morning,
It’s Monday, 31st of August.

Here’s what’s happening in the world of Auspol:

  • One Nation takes Secret Harbour from Labor

  • New poll: Labor back in second

  • Albo attacks One Nation

  • Report: 28 new public servants every day under Labor

One Nation takes Secret Harbour from Labor

It’s not a minor victory: One Nation took the seat in a 20% swing, gaining more than a third of primary votes.

In response, Labor Minister Murray Watt is understating the result, saying “we've got to be a little bit careful to read too much into a state by-election.”

Our take: This shows that One Nation can win traditional Labor heartland seats. Labor HQ is shaken and worried.

New poll: Labor back in second

The findings of a new poll reveal One Nation is back as Australia’s most popular party with support at 30% while Labor is at 29%.

Albo attacks One Nation

Albo has attacked One Nation as “dangerous, dishonest and downright divisive.” He says “we simply must defeat them. We owe it to history. And we will defeat them.”

Aussies have mocked his speech, pointing out that he is describing his own government.

Report: 28 new public servants every day under Labor

A new report reveals Labor has added 28 public servants everyday, expanding the public service by a record amount.

At the same time, productivity and living standards are at a record low.

See you tomorrow,
