“Labor’s lost control” of migration
Tony Burke was supposed to announce Labor’s new plan for migration, which included tougher restrictions on asylum and family reunion.
This has been delayed reportedly due to debate within the party.
In response, Senator Jonno Duniam said Labor has lost control and now it cannot “even agree internally on how to fix the dog’s breakfast that it has created”
Bowen admits power bills are too high
The Energy Minister Chris Bowen spoke at the National Press Club:
He says Australians are “right to be concerned” about high power bills and that they are “higher than we would like”
Bowen said anyone advocating for nuclear power is living in a “fantasy world” and that coal power is an “unreliable asset”
He also announced more solar panel subsidies for businesses

According to recently released NAPLAN results, more than 1 in 3 students are failing to meet basic literacy and numeracy expectations.
Former Vic premier exposed by anti-corruption body
Victoria’s anti-corruption commission has called out the “serious and concerning conduct” of Dan Andrews in a former dispute with the United Firefighters Union.
In response, new Vic premier Ben Carroll claims “this is poor behaviour. It is intolerable. I will take action.”
