Good morning,
It’s Friday, 10th of July.

Here’s what’s happening in the world of Auspol:

  • Rents soar to record highs

  • Aussie cities rank top 10 most livable

  • “Highway to hell”: Labor slammed for sending Australia backwards

Rents soar to record highs

Rents are soaring across the country, despite Labor’s claim that rents would only rise by $2 a week.

Our take: This is a clear response to Labor’s tax grab. Landlords are fleeing the market, decreasing supply and increasing rents when more homes are desperately needed.

It’s another case of government intervention gone wrong with unintended consequences.

What’s next: When Paul Keating removed negative gearing, the same thing happened. Rents soared and prices increased, which was the exact opposite of what was supposed to happen.

Keating was then forced to backflip. Time will tell if Albo will do the same.

Aussie cities rank top 10 most livable

According to the 2026 Global Liveability Index, Melbourne is the 3rd most livable city in the world, followed by Sydney in 4th and Adelaide in 8th.

Our take: The ranking is heavily biased towards culture, food and the arts.

But it conveniently ignores the lived experience of Australians. Absent from consideration is the economy, growing crime, debt and union corruption.

“Highway to hell”: Labor slammed for sending Australia backwards

“This is the new normal.”

Senator Andrew Bragg has pointed out that internet outages like the recent Telstra outage have only happened under Labor, and that “we’re becoming a very sick country.”

The collapse of Australia’s private market is to blame, which Bragg says no longer has to compete or innovate in Labor’s high tax economy.

Being confronted by this truth left Labor minister Amanda Rishworth speechless and outraged on live TV.
