At the National Bush summit with politicians and regional Australians, Albanese was mocked and laughed at.
He claimed “I get it” and that he was concerned about “overregulation” in response to farmer concerns about the net zero transition.
Labor’s new migration plans
Labor is reportedly finalising a more restrictive migration policy. This includes:
Restrictions on international students, such as limiting the number of family members allowed to come with them and preventing students from changing courses to extend their stay
Limits on visitor visas
There were additional reports of a cut to Australia’s refugee intake, which prompted backlash from advocates and Labor MPs. This has been rejected by the PM
Major banks confirm rate rise
Commonwealth, ANZ and NAB are now predicting a further rate rise this year after new inflation figures showed inflation remains persistent.
Pauline Hanson confronts Matt Canavan
At the National Bush Summit, Pauline Hanson told Matt Canavan “our enemy is the Labor-Greens. We as the conservative side have to start working together. Stop knocking me, having a go at me.”
